Topson Returns to OG for the 2026-2027 Dota 2 Season
Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen is back where his legend began. The Finnish midlaner has rejoined OG for the 2026-2027 Dota 2 season, returning to the organization that carried him to two consecutive The International titles at the peak of his career.
The 28-year-old's comeback brings him face to face with a very different OG than the one he left behind. Only two familiar faces remain from previous iterations of the squad: John Anthony "Natsumi" Vargas and Rolen Andrei "skem" Ong both stay on for the new season.
A Rebuilt Lineup Around a Two-Time Champion
The rest of the roster is entirely fresh blood. Valery "SSS" Lazarev and Ivan "OneJey" Zhivitsky round out the five-man lineup, giving Topson a group of teammates he will be working with for the first time. Behind the players, Igor "kaffs" Estevão steps in as the team's new coach, tasked with turning this mix of returning talent and new arrivals into a coherent unit.
Why Topson's Return Matters
For OG fans, the move carries obvious emotional weight. Topson rose from relative obscurity to become a world champion in 2018, then defended the crown in 2019 — a back-to-back run that remains one of the great stories in Dota 2 history. His creative, unorthodox midlane play defined an era of the organization, and his presence alone raises expectations for the upcoming season.
At 28, he is no longer the teenage wildcard who stunned the world at TI8, but his track record at the highest level of competition speaks for itself. Whether he can recapture that form with a largely new supporting cast will be one of the season's early storylines to watch.
What Comes Next
The new OG roster will now begin preparations for the upcoming competitive season, with kaffs leading the team through practice and qualifiers ahead of the 2026-2027 DPC circuit. Fans will get their first real look at the lineup once official match schedules are announced.
