Shift Up has confirmed that Stellar Blade's Nintendo Switch 2 version will ship with a frame generation toggle, reversing course after player feedback on the demo. The news matters for anyone who wants control over how the action game looks and runs on Nintendo's new hardware.
Why the Toggle Was Added
Frame generation has become a talking point for Switch 2 ports, with a couple of upcoming releases leaning on the tech to push performance toward 60fps. Dragon's Dogma 2 is one of them — its producer recently confirmed players will be able to switch the feature on or off as they please.
Stellar Blade took a different approach at first. The Complete Edition demo on Switch 2 applied frame generation by default, with no way to disable it. That didn't sit well with some players, and Shift Up appears to have listened.
In a message posted on the studio's social media account, the team explained the change:
Shift Up: "Thank you to everyone who has played the Stellar Blade Complete Edition demo on Nintendo Switch 2 so far."
"We've been watching your feedback closely and decided to add a Frame Generation toggle at release. We hope this lets you play the way that looks and feels best to you!"
What Happens Next
The change arrives with the full release. Stellar Blade launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on 5th November 2026, and the frame generation toggle will be available from day one — meaning players unhappy with how the demo handled the feature will have the choice in hand when the final version lands.
