Luma Island is heading to PS5

Developer Feel Free Games has confirmed that Luma Island is coming to PlayStation 5, with wishlisting now open on the PlayStation Store. The announcement marks the game's biggest platform expansion since its debut.

How It Got Here

Luma Island launched on PC in November 2024. In the time since, the farming-adventure game has grown steadily by word of mouth, and the studio now counts more than 800,000 players on the island. The PS5 version is the next step in that rollout — and it won't stop there.

What's New in This Announcement

The headline news is the PS5 release, but the team also confirmed cross-platform play across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. In practice, that means a PlayStation player can explore the island with friends on PC or Xbox without restriction — a meaningful feature for a game built around cooperative play, where up to 4 players can play together online, sharing resources, building, and exploring side by side.

What Kind of Game It Is

Luma Island begins with a simple setup: an old caravan and a rundown farm. From there, players shape their own path — building and decorating the farm, growing crops, raising animals, and choosing from eight professions. Along the way you'll meet townsfolk and hatch Lumas, magical companions that travel with you.

Away from the farm, the island opens up considerably:

• Forests, mountains and thick jungles to explore
• Caves full of resources
• Ancient temples with puzzles, traps and hidden treasure
• Pirate Cove, with its own areas plus pirate-themed minigames and challenges

Built for Different Kinds of Players

A core design goal is accessibility. The game offers three difficulty modes — Cozy, Adventure and Hero. In Cozy Mode, there's no combat at all unless you actively choose it; the other two modes raise the challenge.

There are also no stamina bars and no inventory limits, so sessions can be as relaxed or as ambitious as you like — an evening of farming, decorating or fishing, or a full day hunting secrets in the temples.
