Background: A Permanent Star Path Arrives

When Gameloft launched the Season of Scares update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, it did more than add seasonal content — it introduced a fundamentally new kind of Star Path. Called the Astronomer's Journey, this event is the first of its kind in the valley: instead of expiring after a few weeks, it is a permanent feature designed to stay in the game indefinitely.

The purpose behind it is straightforward. Astronomer's Journey functions as an introduction to the Star Path system, giving new players a compact, low-pressure way to learn how these events work while still walking away with real rewards.

How It Developed: 15 Main Duties, From Night Thorns to a Selfie with Merlin

The event keeps things short and sweet. There are just 15 main duties, each paying out Tokens upon completion. The tasks are deliberately basic — they double as a tutorial for core gameplay:

• Clearing 5 Night Thorns in DLC worlds earns 15 Tokens
• Harvesting 3 fruits earns 15 Tokens
• Catching 5 fish earns 30 Tokens
• Cooking a one-star (or better) dish earns 20 Tokens, and a two-star dish pays 50 Tokens
• Picking 5 flowers earns 20 Tokens
• Breaking 5 rock spots with the Royal Pickaxe earns 30 Tokens
• Buying 3 items from a Stall earns 30 Tokens
• Planting 5 vegetables earns the largest farming payout at 50 Tokens
• Mining 1 red gem earns 50 Tokens
• Picking up 5 pieces of wood earns 40 Tokens
• Selling 10 items earns 50 Tokens
• Changing your outfit once earns 50 Tokens
• Taking a picture with Merlin earns 50 Tokens

The whole sequence kicks off with the "On the Path of Stars" quest from Merlin, which unlocks and lets you place the Event Board in your valley — worth 50 Tokens on its own.

A Change to Routine Duties: No More Weekly Waits

Traditional Star Paths drip-feed routine duties week by week, forcing players to wait between unlocks. Astronomer's Journey breaks that pattern: all three routine duties are available immediately. They are:

1. Take a picture of the Event Board using the Phone from the Royal Tool wheel — 25 Tokens
2. Equip the Astronomer's Apprentice Backpack (unlocked from the second page of the event) — 25 Tokens
3. Bring any gem to Merlin, the Wise Wizard — 50 Tokens

For players used to pacing out their Star Path progress, this means the entire event can be finished in a single play session.

Where Things Stand Now

The Astronomer's Journey Star Path is live and permanent as part of the Season of Scares update. Because it never expires, there is no deadline pressure — but completing it early is still worthwhile, since it hands new players a full set of astronomy-themed clothing, furniture, and motifs for relatively little effort. Once it's done, the valley still has plenty waiting, from Olaf's Grand Exhibition Plaza and Forgotten Lands rooms to unlocking Oogie Boogie and creating decoration presets.
