Hello Kitty and Friends: Freeze Tag Party launches on Switch 2 November 26 in Japan

Imagineer has confirmed that its tag-action game starring Hello Kitty and Friends is heading to Nintendo Switch 2, giving Sanrio fans a fresh reason to pick up the new hardware. The announcement matters for players who enjoy lighthearted multiplayer brawlers and want more family-friendly options on the upgraded console.

What We Know So Far

The title is a tag-action fighting game built around the beloved Sanrio cast, letting players swap between characters mid-battle. Imagineer, the Japanese studio behind a long line of casual and family-oriented titles, is handling development and publishing.

Details remain thin at this stage. The publisher has not shared a release date, pricing, or a full feature list for the Switch 2 version, and it is not yet clear whether the game will arrive as a new edition or an enhanced port of an earlier release. Players hoping for concrete specifics will need to wait for Imagineer's next announcement.

Why It Fits the Switch 2

Hello Kitty and Friends is exactly the kind of property that thrives on Nintendo platforms. Easy-to-grasp tag mechanics, colorful visuals, and a roster of instantly recognizable characters make it a natural fit for couch co-op sessions and younger audiences alike.

The Switch 2's improved hardware also gives Imagineer room to polish performance and presentation beyond what was possible on the original Switch, though the studio has not detailed any technical upgrades yet.

What Happens Next

Imagineer is expected to reveal more information about the Switch 2 version in the coming months, including a launch window and gameplay details. Fans should keep an eye on the studio's official channels for the full announcement.
