Stuntboost, a Skateboarding Platformer by Tech Dech, Is Out Now

Stuntboost, a first-person skateboarding platformer built around the nostalgic charm of fingerboards and cardboard courses, is out now on Steam. For anyone who spent their childhood flipping a tiny skateboard over their fingers instead of learning the real thing, this game offers a digital second chance.

A Miniature Skateboard, A Bedroom Full of Courses

Rather than dropping players onto life-sized skate parks, Stuntboost presents its world as though you're riding a miniature fingerboard through handmade cardboard courses set up around a bedroom. Your hand never appears on screen, but the movement design subtly implies it's there. Turning corners feels quick and responsive, gravity is forgiving rather than punishing, and momentum still plays a meaningful role in how you navigate each course.

The game is split into distinct tracks featuring cardboard half pipes, notebook platforms, and other household obstacles. A timer runs along the top of each map, rating how well — or how badly — your run is going, making the game an obvious fit for speedrunning fans.

Late '90s Nostalgia on Wheels

Stuntboost leans hard into its era of inspiration. The soundtrack channels late '90s and early 2000s pop punk, the kind of music likely to stir up questionable nostalgia in players now in their 40s. Collectibles come in the form of VHS tapes, because of course they do.

Competition-minded players get online leaderboards, complete with ghost replays of other riders to race against. There's also a small roster of alternative rides beyond the skateboard, including scooters and a car that's almost certainly a nod to the Toyota AE86 from Initial D.
