"Grind all 665 runs if you like!": Control Resonant introduces a fresh Game++ mode next month, and photo enthusiasts can rest easy — a photo mode is coming as well

Remedy Entertainment responded quickly to Control Resonant's launch with a day-one hotfix addressing combat complaints. The studio's post-launch roadmap includes New Game++ in October, allowing unlimited chained NG+ runs…

The Cause: A Day-One Hotfix for Combat Complaints

Remedy Entertainment didn't wait for a patch cycle to respond to player feedback. On the very same day Control Resonant launched, the studio pushed out a hotfix targeting various complaints leveled against the game's combat, making it slightly more manageable for players having a tougher time with it. A fuller update, however, won't arrive until next month — and in the meantime, Remedy has laid out its post-launch plans in detail.

The Process: New Game++ Announced, Coming in October

In a Steam blog post, Remedy explained how endgame play currently works: "When you beat the main story of Control Resonant, you can still keep playing. Perhaps there's side quests you haven't finished yet – or even found out about? You can also discover World Feats, or start it all again in a New Game+ run."

Right now, New Game+ only allows you to beat the game one additional time. That's about to change. According to Remedy: "The current version of New Game+ enables you to beat the game only once more, but we're preparing an update that will add... wait for it... New Game++, which means you can start NG+ run after NG+ run, without needing to erase all your progress. Do 665 runs if you want!"

A word of practical caution: 665 runs could take upwards of a year of continuous play, so most players will probably want to set more modest goals. The NG++ update is scheduled for October.

The Latest Developments: Photo Mode in November, Plus New Cosmetics

The action RPG's photo mode is slated for November, and Remedy says it's something the studio has "been cooking for a while." To get it right, Remedy even consulted a handful of virtual photographers.

Why isn't it available at launch? Remedy explained that the priority was getting the game "in the best possible shape" for release day. Photo mode will follow roughly a month after NG++ — by which point you'll have plenty of new runs to pose your way through. On top of all this, new cosmetics are also planned for future updates.

The news was confirmed via Remedy Entertainment's Bluesky account on September 25, 2026: "NG++ coming in October. Photo Mode coming in November."

What It Means for Players

So is Control Resonant worth photographing in the first place? Based on VG247's review, the open world gives you plenty to work with: "That's an open world, by the way, that absolutely stands up as a successor to the Oldest House. Not that some concrete-walled cameos are any less welcome, but Resonant manages to spread the original's New Weirdness wider without it getting thinner." The review highlights "loads of flavoursome oddities painted into the city's details: redacted files dropped by fleeing agents, billboards making less sense as the patterning around them worsens, disturbed objects falling in the 'correct' direction as Dylan uses gravity anomalies to walk on ceilings and walls."

Where things stand: the game is in its immediate post-launch window — a day-one combat hotfix is live, New Game++ arrives in October, and photo mode lands in November, with cosmetics to follow.
