Dunk City Dynasty tasks Metta World Peace with stopping your offensive attack

Season 9 Vol. 2 is now live in Dunk City Dynasty, and its headline addition is Metta World Peace, arriving as a lockdown defender roughly a month after Vol. 1 brought Anthony Edwards and Mikal Bridges onto the court.

The Name Behind the Player

If the name catches you off guard, there's a layered history here. He was Ron Artest until 2011 — which means, strictly speaking, that 2010 Lakers championship went to Ron Artest, and it's hard to find anyone who'd argue otherwise. Since 2020 he has legally been Metta Sandiford-Artest, though that change never seemed to stick in public usage. His reasoning at the time: fans who got annoyed with him couldn't exactly shout that they hated World Peace.

What He Does on the Court

In-game, he's built to shut opponents down, break up scoring chances, and turn stops into comeback plays at the other end — fitting for the winner of the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year award. Notably, Bridges arrived last month as a defensive option too, which means scoring in Dunk City Dynasty is getting harder with each update. Recruiting World Peace also comes with extra rewards and seasonal surprises scattered through the volume.

New Cavalry Outfit

The Cavalry outfit is new this time around. There's no word yet on what it looks like, but the studio has form here — last volume it put an armor set on a basketball court.

Season Journey Continues

Season Journey runs alongside all of this: you collect match trophies and unlock milestone rewards, and losing a challenge costs you nothing. It's a forgiving structure that more events could learn from.
