Genshin Impact Luna 5 Returns the Party to Mondstadt and Finally Adds Varka as a Playable Character
Genshin Luna 5 arrives Feb 25 as Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation - Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind, returning to Mondstadt with playable Varka.
Background: The update cycle behind the next major patch
Genshin Impact, the open-world action RPG from HoYoverse, continues its long-running schedule of version updates. Each version introduces new story content, characters, areas, and systems, so version numbers and release dates carry practical importance for players tracking banners, exploration, and progression. The latest announced patch is Version Luna 5.
Development Process: A layered title reveals the update's identity
The update is listed with the unusually long and needlessly layered title Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation - Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind. The naming structure places the version within a broader narrative arc while also signaling a specific chapter or variation. For readers, the full title helps identify the patch across patch notes, livestreams, and community discussions, especially when a simple numeric label such as Luna 5 may not be enough.
Latest Progress: February 25 is the confirmed arrival date
The confirmed arrival date is February 25. The date matters because players may need to prepare accounts, save resources, update clients, and plan around the new content window. HoYoverse's breakout game, Genshin Impact, is therefore set to enter its next major content phase on that date, with Version Luna 5 carrying the full title Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation - Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind.
What the date means for players
The announcement centers on the next big content update for Genshin Impact. Readers should treat February 25 as the key calendar marker for the patch and the full title as the identifier for the version. No plot details are disclosed in the announcement, so no spoiler warning is required.
Current stage
As of the latest revealed information, HoYoverse's Genshin Impact is preparing for Version Luna 5, arriving February 25 under the title Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation - Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind.
