How to beat The Dancer boss in Control Resonant

The Dancer in Control Resonant is unlike any boss you've faced up to that point. Where other fights shift subtly between phases, this one splits cleanly into two very different battles — and she's the first boss in the game to gain a brand-new health bar when phase two begins. If you walk in expecting round one's passive performance to continue, she'll tear through you.

How to beat The Dancer boss in Control Resonant

Here's how both phases work, attack by attack, so you know exactly what's coming.

Before the Curtain Rises

Make a detour to The Gap before triggering the fight. Spend any leftover Talent Points and squeeze in last-minute upgrades — you'll want every advantage, because phase two punishes an unprepared build.

Phase 1: The Reluctant Opponent

For most of the first phase, The Dancer barely acknowledges you exist. She dances around the arena, and only becomes more responsive as her health drops. Even then, she's easy to evade if you watch her movements and dodge on time.

Her attacks are:

  • Baton thrust — a direct forward jab with both batons, usually right after you attack
  • Forward attack — she rotates the batons around her upper body in a short forward strike
  • Spinning in place — she drops to her knees and spins quickly on the spot
  • Spinning while moving — the same spin, but she crosses the arena while doing it
  • Jump attack — appears around the midpoint of the fight: two quick jumping spins aimed at you

How you attack depends on your unlocked Combat Abilities. Took Barrage after defeating The Artist? Poke from range, then move in for hits that restore your power. Chose Shield instead? Strike directly, then throw the shield up to absorb her response. For weapon forms, both Strike (fast hits, then retreat) and Glaive (safe distance) work well — and remember you can swap forms mid-fight.

The key goal here: finish phase one with as much health as possible, even if it makes the stage slow. You'll need it.

Phase 2: The Real Fight

Everything resets — a fresh health bar appears and any progress on the falter bar is wiped. That's exactly why you stockpiled health. The Dancer now fights for real, with quick attacks that hurt if your dodging isn't sharp (though she still pauses to dance occasionally).

Her new moves:

  • Levitating and audience throwing — her opener: all her arms appear, she rises into the air and hurls two audience members at you
  • Ground slam — a small jump followed by a one-foot slam, typically after you attack or she throws audience members
  • Quick baton swing — two fast baton swings, usually after you land hits
  • Big ground slam — the trick version: her arms appear like the levitation attack, but she slams down on your position instead. Dodge fast. She uses this more often late in the fight, with slightly increased power
  • Baton swinging and floor slamming — unlocked at roughly half health: two wide baton swings as she moves, then a floor slam
  • Pulling you close — the fight-ender, explained below

Damage windows are brief: punish the moments she pauses completely, like ground slams. Watch out for her quick side-step dodge, which can make Barrage miss entirely.

Surviving the Spotlight

At roughly the last quarter of her health, the arena lights go out everywhere except around The Dancer. Linger outside the spotlight too long and an orange light flashes at your feet — ignore that, and she drags you beneath her for a baton beating that will end your run.

Counters: dip back into the spotlight to refresh the timer, or rely on attacking or dodging, which sometimes cancels it automatically. The mechanic is designed to keep you in range for the finale, so weave in and out, strike when she pauses, and finish her off.

Next step: once The Dancer falls, bank your rewards and revisit The Gap before the next boss — the pattern of phase-two surprises is only likely to continue.
