GameSir and Epic Games are teaming up for an officially licensed Fortnite controller line, with two mobile-focused models arriving on October 20: the GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition and the GameSir X5 Lite for XBOX Fortnite Edition.

The deal is a meaningful broadening of Fortnite's licensed hardware lineup, joining a peripheral maker known for its drift-resistant stick technology with one of the most recognizable character lineups in gaming.

Two Models, Two Use Cases

The G8 Plus serves as the premium pick, aimed at players who want console-grade performance without the console. It features Hall Effect sticks built to resist drift over long-term use, rear buttons that can be remapped to speed up edits and building, and an ergonomic design meant to stay comfortable through marathon sessions. The MSRP is $89.99.

The X5 Lite goes the other direction: light, wired, and priced for players who just want a responsive, plug-and-play setup rather than a high-end showpiece. It costs $49.99. Both pads lean heavily into Fortnite's character-driven look, with themed artwork and collectible-style packaging instead of a simple logo slapped on the shell.

The partnership was arranged through IMG Licensing. GameSir's VP of Partnerships said the aim was to create something that feels like an authentic Fortnite experience from the hardware level up, not just a rebranded existing product.

Pricing, Packaging, and Bonus Items

  • Launch date: October 20
  • GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition: Hall Effect sticks, mappable rear buttons, $89.99 MSRP
  • GameSir X5 Lite for XBOX Fortnite Edition: lightweight wired design, $49.99
  • Both models include Fortnite character-inspired artwork and collectible-style packaging
  • Each controller ships with a digital in-game item, with cited examples including emotes such as Bully and Gun Show and gliders such as Cerberus and Storm Sigil

Why It Matters for Mobile Play

Fortnite's player base leans heavily toward mobile and cross-platform play, so a dedicated hardware push makes sense for a publisher that has supported third-party phone and tablet accessories for years. GameSir is betting on Hall Effect technology as its drift-resistance selling point — an increasingly common differentiator in the mobile controller market, and one that reflects the wider growth of mobile audiences in regions such as Southeast Asia.

Other publishers and organizations have taken a similar route, whether through G2 Esports' mobile partnerships around PUBG Mobile or EA Esports weaving mobile into its cross-title strategy.

What Happens Next?

Both the GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition and the X5 Lite for XBOX Fortnite Edition launch on October 20 via GameSir's own site and retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, where pre-orders are already open.
