The £130 God of War Laufey's Collector Box does not include the game.

Background: A Pre-Order Trailer and Last Month's Apology

The timeline around God of War Laufey now includes a pre-order trailer, a product update and a separate apology from The Last of Us director Bruce Straley. The trailer is titled God of War Laufey - Official Pre-Orders Open Trailer and is available on YouTube.

Last month, Straley apologised to the God of War Laufey team at Sony Santa Monica after saying he was "not excited" about the upcoming game's gameplay. In the interview, Straley said he would "probably never" make the triple-A game he actually wants to make because modern blockbusters are "boring". He later said his comment had been "used out of context and for clickbait".

That apology formed part of the broader conversation around the game before the latest retail update: the Collector Box for God of War Laufey will cost £129.99, $149.99 and €149.99, and it will not include the game.

Development Process: The Collector Box Contents and the £129.99 Price

The update on the PlayStation Blog confirms the contents of the box. It includes a light-up Faye statue, a 51-card Oracle Deck and a mini artbook. The eight-inch statue shows Faye, Phranque and Rue taking on Begtse's soldiers. Phranque lights up when the statue is connected to a Universal Serial Bus power source, a detail noted by ScreenRant.

The Oracle Deck has custom illustrations by Megan Lara on every card. Sony describes it as "a beautiful representation of your adventure through the Everywhen". The mini artbook collects concept art of the game's characters, creatures and environments, "hand-selected by our talented art team at Santa Monica Studio". The product imagery is credited to Sony PlayStation.

The £129.99, $149.99 and €149.99 price therefore buys physical collectibles tied to the game's art direction rather than the software itself.

Latest Progress: Highly Limited Supply and a Shared Launch Date

The box will be available in "highly limited quantities exclusively direct from PlayStation (where available)" on 16 February 2027. That is the same day God of War Laufey launches on PlayStation 5. Pre-orders are now open "while supplies last".

This places the product at a narrow point on the calendar: the collector edition and the game share a launch date, but the collector edition is a separate merchandise purchase. The update also notes that the God of War Laufey box is not the first premium package to exclude the game. Rockstar's £349.99 GTA 6 Collector's Box, due on 19 November, is merchandise only. Bungie has previously sold Destiny 2 collector's editions without the expansion code.

Current Stage: Pre-Order Demand Runs Toward 16 February 2027

At this stage, the confirmed God of War Laufey facts are the £129.99, $149.99 and €149.99 Collector Box price; the light-up eight-inch Faye statue, 51-card Oracle Deck and mini artbook contents; the direct PlayStation availability; and the 16 February 2027 date, which is also the PlayStation 5 launch date.

The main open question in the timeline is supply: pre-orders are open while supplies last, and the box is described as highly limited. For readers, the practical meaning is that this is a collector item for the game's universe, not a bundle that includes the game.
