Top Deals of the Day: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Metroid Prime 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and More

Background: A New Weekend After a Console Price Increase

A new weekend arrived, and by Saturday, September 26, seven price cuts reshaped the buying case for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software. The Nintendo Switch 2 had officially increased in price, but the top picks for Saturday, September 26 included a discounted refurbished console and lower prices on Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, and Fate Return to Avalon: Takashi Takeuchi Art Works.

Development: From Last Year's December Game to This Weekend's Releases

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond had been the Nintendo Switch 2's big December game last year. Woot offered a physical Switch 2 copy for $49.99 this weekend. An 8/10 review described the game as a strong but uneven revival, with standout passages that felt worthy of the Metroid name.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake had been available since release, and Amazon discounted copies down to $39.99, one of the best prices seen since release. The package is an ambitious remake pair that updates the classics. Dragon Quest II especially saw huge additions to its story, making this the definitive version of the game. A 9/10 review said it wraps up this trilogy well, preserving the retro feel while updating the presentation.

Spoiler warning: No major plot twists or endings are discussed here. The only story-related note is that Dragon Quest II's remake adds significant narrative material.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 arrived as part of Mario's 40th anniversary, bringing back Super Mario Galaxy and moving Super Mario Galaxy 2 to Nintendo Switch. Amazon offered a physical copy for $48.97, so a buyer can keep the pair permanently. This version is playable on Nintendo Switch 2, and an update was available to increase the resolution to 4K across both titles.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave was out now, and Amazon offered a physical copy for $69.97. With the game priced at $79.99 elsewhere, the offer saved $10. A 10/10 review praised its blend of tactical battles and management, plus four character threads that combine into a single RPG.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection was discounted at Amazon in PS5 copies for $29.99, saving $10 off this collection of seven games. An 8/10 review described it as the best way to experience the Blue Bomber's most underrated era.

Latest: Refurbished Hardware and Collector Materials

The hardware discount was a Grade A Refurbished Nintendo Switch 2 at Woot for $449.99. According to Woot, these units had been inspected and guaranteed to have minimal cosmetic damage, had successfully passed a full diagnostic test that ensured like-new functionality, and had removed any prior-user personal information. All of the original accessories were included, so a buyer did not need to pick up a Dock or anything like that.

Fate Return to Avalon: Takashi Takeuchi Art Works was available at Amazon for $40.42. Takashi Takeuchi has one of the most recognizable art styles for good reason, having pioneered Type-Moon's art for franchises like Fate and Tsukihime. The hardcover collection of Takeuchi's Fate artwork includes almost 300 pages and features art from games, promotional material, limited events, and much more, making it perfect for any Fate fan.

Current Stage: What the September 26 Offers Mean for Buyers

The Saturday, September 26 offers placed buyers at a practical crossroads. The $449.99 refurbished Nintendo Switch 2 makes the platform more accessible after the official price increase, but the deal depends on accepting Woot's Grade A condition and guarantee. The $49.99 physical Metroid Prime 4: Beyond copy and $69.97 Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave copy reduce the cost of games tied to the Nintendo Switch 2 window. The $48.97 Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 pack and $39.99 Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake provide long-term value through anniversary and remake content, while the $29.99 Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection and $40.42 Fate Return to Avalon: Takashi Takeuchi Art Works extend the weekend beyond the Nintendo Switch 2 game lineup.
