Natus Vincere eliminate the world number one Spirit team from the Perfect Global League Masters Bucharest tournament, setting up a quarter-final against Vitality.

Natus Vincere beat Team Spirit 3-2 at Perfect Global League Masters Bucharest, eliminating the world number one and setting a Vitality playoff.

Background: The 2-2 Swiss Decider That Ended Team Spirit's Run

Before the playoffs could start, Team Spirit's run at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 ended in the last 2-2 decider of the Swiss stage against Natus Vincere. Team Spirit entered that match as the HLTV.org world number one. Natus Vincere took the win and will now face Vitality, whose lineup includes stand-in Justinas 'jL' Lekavicius.

The series shifted quickly. Natus Vincere won the opening map, Cache, decisively. Team Spirit brought the series level on Dust2, but Natus Vincere closed out the match on Anubis. HLTV reported that this was Team Spirit's first defeat by Natus Vincere since February 2025.

Development: Two Straight Losses Dropped Natus Vincere Into the 2-2 Pool

Natus Vincere's path to the decider was uneven. They began with 2-0 wins over G2 and FURIA, and the second map against G2 went to three overtimes. Their form then dipped.

BetBoom defeated Natus Vincere 2-0, with 10-13 on Dust II and 9-13 on Nuke. Vitality delivered the next loss, taking Inferno 2-13 and Dust II 9-13. That second straight defeat placed Natus Vincere in the 2-2 pool, where one more loss would have ended their event.

Team Spirit also took a similar route to the decider. They lost 1-2 to MOUZ on 27 October. Team Spirit won Nuke 13-2 but then lost Dust2 8-13 and Mirage 14-16.

Development: 2-3 Elimination, US$31,250 Prize Money and Late Playoff Berths

Elimination at 2-3 has a clear financial cost. Teams finishing ninth to eleventh each receive US$31,250. Each losing quarter-finalist takes US$50,000. The winners' share is split equally between players and organisation.

Natus Vincere were not the only late qualifiers. Nemiga beat The MongolZ 2-0 and FURIA beat Liquid 2-0 on the final group-stage day. Nemiga, FURIA and Natus Vincere took the last three playoff places.

Latest Progress: A Quick Vitality Rematch With Stand-In Justinas Lekavicius

The rematch comes quickly against the Vitality side that beat Natus Vincere in the group stage. Vitality are not at full strength. The organisation announced in August that Justinas 'jL' Lekavicius would stand in at BLAST Open Porto and PGL Masters Bucharest.

The other ties are Nemiga against FUT, Aurora against MOUZ and BetBoom against FURIA.

Current Stage: Single-Elimination Playoffs Conclude on 31 October

PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 is an offline S-Tier event, rated Valve Tier 1, featuring 16 teams. The playoffs use a single-elimination bracket and include a separate match for third place. There is no second chance for anyone from here. The playoffs conclude on 31 October.

The stakes extend beyond this event. Natus Vincere's tournament page calls Bucharest the penultimate major tournament before the PGL Major Singapore 2026. A deep run here would give any of the eight teams momentum heading into that event.
