Where to find Golden Fern in Genshin Impact

Golden Fern is a Snezhnayan local specialty added to Genshin Impact in version 7.0. Right now it serves as an Ascension material for Vesna, a 5-Star Anemo character, though other characters may end up needing it down the line.

The catch is that Golden Ferns won't respawn for two days, so you can't farm them endlessly. That makes an efficient route essential if you want to grab as many as possible in a single run.

Golden Fern Locations in Genshin Impact

Golden Ferns grow in dense clusters, so one spot usually nets you several plants at once — a big time-saver. Bringing a character like Alyosha or Odette helps too, since their abilities add a hand symbol to your mini-map marking nearby specialty materials.

Here's a breakdown of every farming area:

Rankova Zora

There are 45 Golden Ferns to the north of Rankova Zora, a settlement east of Flamefeather Valley and south of Morepesok.

This area needs no special unlocking, and the ferns sit tightly packed together, making it the top spot for Golden Fern farming in Genshin Impact. Just keep your Kresnik Energy topped up while exploring — otherwise your party is headed for a very cold death.

Everfrozen Earth (near Central Station)

The Everfrozen Earth valley just west of Central Station holds only nine Golden Ferns, but a Teleport Waypoint sits right nearby. That makes grabbing these nine a quick and painless job.

Flamefeather Valley

Flamefeather Valley, west of Rankova Zora, contains 26 Golden Ferns. However, you must first unlock the area through the 'In the Dwelling of Life' quest before you can start collecting.

One warning: this is a firearms exploration habitat. The reduced exploration speed in this mode means it's not the fastest place to farm. Even though you control the Traveler during firearm exploration sections, Odette and Alyosha's mini-map ability still works — provided they were in your party before you entered the valley.

Golden Fern Chest Location

A chest just north of Rankova Zora, sitting on breakable ice, contains nine Golden Ferns. It's a one-time reward, so you can't farm it repeatedly. Simply defeat the enemies guarding it to open the chest and claim the ferns inside.

What Are Golden Ferns Used For?

Golden Fern is a vivid yellow-and-orange material native to the Snezhnaya region, typically growing in clusters beside rivers or in leafy forests like Flamefeather Valley.

At present, Vesna is the only character who needs them, requiring 168 for full Ascension. Since Snezhnaya holds 80 Golden Ferns in total, collecting everything usually takes three farming days — though opening the chest north of Rankova Zora can trim that down to two days.
