Silent Hill Townfall guide: how to solve the AUX room valve puzzle

Part 6 of Silent Hill Townfall asks you to manually flush Aux Line B as part of the command console puzzle, and that means tackling the AUX room valve puzzle — a room full of valves that have to be opened in a very specific order. It's easy to lose serious time here, so this walkthrough gets you in and out fast.

Start with the PC and the AUX Disk

When you enter the AUX Room, you'll find the AUX Disk, a PC, a locker holding Alcohol and Gauze, and a dozen valves lining the walls.

Interact with the PC first and insert the AUX Disk into the Disk Reader. Then open the Auxiliary Lines file. At first glance it looks like a string of meaningless symbols, but it's the key to the whole puzzle: "I" means a valve should be opened, and "_" means it stays closed.

Reading the room: rows and arrows

The tricky part is that the valves aren't arranged in neat rows facing you. Directional arrows are painted on the walls at the start and end of each row, and you're meant to snake through the room following them back and forth.

Here's the order to work in:

1. Start at the wall near the storage cabinet.
2. Begin with the bottom row (row 1), then move to the middle row (row 2), then the top row (row 3).
3. Follow the directional arrows around the room, opening only the valves marked "I".

If you're unsure which valve belongs to which row, check the white lines painted on the pipes the valves are attached to — they trace each valve back to its row. When the lights on the wall flip from red to green, you've done it right.

The exact valve pattern

Rather than running back to the PC to re-check the file, here's the full solution for all three rows, top to bottom as listed:

• Row 1: I _ I I _ I _ I I
• Row 2: I _ _ _ I _ _ I I
• Row 3: _ I I I _ I _ I

Open exactly those valves, leave the rest alone, and the auxiliary lines will be manually opened.

Back to the console

With the valves sorted, return to the CCTV room and carry on with the command console puzzle. That's one of the game's most fiddly rooms cleared — no half-hour detours required.
