Gentle Mates Gaming Club overcame a one-map deficit to defeat Shopify Rebellion Gold and reach the Game Changers final

Background: Two Unbeaten Teams Meet in São Paulo

Gentle Mates GC and Shopify Rebellion Gold entered the upper bracket final of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2026 with the same map record heading into the match: each team had won every map played at the event so far. Gentle Mates GC were making their Championship debut. The French-based roster of Marti, Nami, Wens, tokameite and berryx reached the upper final with 2-0 victories over Team Liquid Brazil and MIBR GC. In Europe, Middle East, and Africa Stage 3 before the event, they recorded 2-1 wins over G2 Gozen and SK Nebula, then a 3-2 loss to G2 Gozen.

Shopify Rebellion Gold had also advanced through the upper bracket without dropping a map, clearing SK Nebula and KRÜ Blaze. In North America Stage 2, the team beat FlyQuest RED 3-1 and 2-1, and defeated SwimTrek Blue 2-0. At last year's Championship in Seoul, Shopify Rebellion Gold had been beaten 3-2 by Team Liquid Brazil in the title match.

The Elo power rankings favored Gentle Mates GC. They were fourth on 1844 with a 33-7 record from 40 rated matches. Shopify Rebellion Gold were sixth on 1809, carrying a 40-20 record from 60 rated matches.

Friday, 30 October: The Upper Bracket Final Goes to a Decider

On Friday, 30 October, in São Paulo, Gentle Mates GC faced Shopify Rebellion Gold in the upper bracket final. Shopify Rebellion Gold took map one after 53 minutes, putting the debutants behind early.

Gentle Mates GC answered on the second map. Shopify Rebellion Gold fought back to 10-10, but Gentle Mates GC closed the map 13-11 after 55 minutes. The series went to a decider on Summit. That map lasted 57 minutes and ended 13-10 for Gentle Mates GC. The result made the series 2-1 and sent Gentle Mates GC to the grand final.

The timeline showed how close the contest was despite the 2-1 scoreline. Map one ran 53 minutes, map two ran 55 minutes, and the Summit decider ran 57 minutes. Each map required more than 50 minutes, and the final two maps were decided by two or three rounds after close late-stage pressure.

After the Upper Bracket Win: A Two-Map Ban Advantage and a Lower Bracket Path

Because Gentle Mates GC came through the upper bracket, they enter Sunday's best-of-five grand final with a two-map ban advantage. Shopify Rebellion Gold must instead continue through the lower bracket. The team is led at the event by interim in-game leader alexis. Shopify Rebellion Gold's next obstacle is KRÜ Blaze in the lower bracket final.

The lower bracket final is a rematch. Shopify Rebellion Gold had already beaten KRÜ Blaze in the upper semi-final. KRÜ Blaze then returned to the lower bracket final by beating Team Liquid Brazil and MIBR GC without dropping a map. MIBR GC finished fourth, a placement worth $50,000. SK Nebula, one of three Europe, Middle East, and Africa teams in São Paulo, placed joint fifth to sixth for $25,000. Their line-up included Scottish player fluxxy.

The event's prize structure gives third place $70,000. The lower bracket final and the grand final are both best-of-five, after best-of-three series in the earlier rounds of the double-elimination bracket. Ten teams entered the tournament at Riot Games Arena.

Saturday, 31 October: Shopify Rebellion Gold Face KRÜ Blaze in a Lower Bracket Rematch

Shopify Rebellion Gold and KRÜ Blaze meet in the lower bracket final on Saturday, 31 October at 15:00 Brasilia Time. The match determines who advances to the grand final.
