Find the locations of the Sewers Key and the Sewers Master Key in Valor Mortis.

Background: Why the 2 Keys Matter

In Valor Mortis, the sewers beneath the City of Orphans form a clear barrier between earlier exploration and the route toward the University. To continue through that area, the player needs access to 2 specific items: the Sewers Key and the Sewers Master Key.

These keys do more than open doors. They also create shorter paths back to nearby Lanterns, which makes the sewer section less repetitive once both keys have been found.

First Stage: Reaching the Sewers Key

The timeline begins at the Sewers Lantern in the City of Orphans. From there, enter the sewers and use the grapple hook that appears shortly after starting the route.

Continue straight through the sewers until reaching a Volunteer enemy guarding a ladder. Defeat that enemy, then descend the ladder.

At the bottom, the path becomes tighter. Two Grenadier enemies appear in a very confined space. The direct objective is to eliminate both enemies, then open the chest in the room to receive the Sewers Key.

There is also a combat shortcut: if the Grenadiers’ grenades hit each other, one may kill the other. This is not required, but it can make the encounter easier.

Second Stage: Opening the Route to the Master Key

After obtaining the Sewers Key, return to the Sewers Lantern in the City of Orphans. From that point, go straight and unlock the gate on the left once it is reached. Then take the stairs upward into another part of the sewers.

The next area requires clearing enemies. After they are defeated, move left toward the blue Nepthoglobin blockade. Pulling this blockade creates a shortcut back to the Sewers Lantern.

This step is important because it improves movement through the sewers. It also prepares the route for the final key location.

Final Stage: Finding the Sewers Master Key

Once the shortcut is unlocked, turn back and head right. The next section requires a jump onto the railing. From there, land on the Nephtoglobin foundation on the opposite side.

To the left of that landing area, loot the Sewers Master Key from the floor.

This is the last major collectible in the sewer timeline. It unlocks the full version of the area and makes the path toward the University more reachable.

Current Status After Both Keys

With both the Sewers Key and the Sewers Master Key secured, the player can fully explore the sewer section and use the newly opened shortcuts. The route is now prepared for continued progress toward the University in Valor Mortis.
