KRÜ Blaze Overcome Initial Map Loss to Defeat Shopify Rebellion Gold and Advance to the Final

The path to Saturday 31 October

The Valorant Champions Tour Game Changers Championship 2026 playoffs reached a decisive lower bracket match on Saturday 31 October 2026. KRÜ Blaze, an Argentine-based side, had entered the playoffs by beating Gen.G GC 2-1 in the upper bracket quarter-finals. Shopify Rebellion Gold had also started in the upper bracket, winning 2-0 against SK Nebula in the quarter-finals.

The two sides met before the decisive Saturday match on 27 October, when Shopify Rebellion Gold won the upper bracket semi-final 2-0 and pushed KRÜ Blaze into the lower half of the draw.

Shopify Rebellion Gold came into the championship with recent momentum from two series wins over FlyQuest RED in the North America Stage 2 competition. KRÜ Blaze arrived as winners of the Latin America regional final, where they defeated Akave Esports Black 3-1.

A 1 – 3 upset built on three straight maps

The Saturday series was a best-of-five, and the official score line read Shopify Rebellion Gold 1 – 3 KRÜ Blaze. Shopify Rebellion Gold struck first on the opening map, taking it after 47 minutes. KRÜ Blaze answered on the quickest map of the series, a 37-minute second map, then took the third map in 50 minutes to edge ahead.

The fourth map was by some distance the longest of the night at 70 minutes. KRÜ Blaze closed it out, settling the best-of-five without a decider and reversing the 2-0 defeat they had suffered on 27 October. The win sent the Argentine-based side into the final, while Shopify Rebellion Gold’s campaign ended with the loss.

Why the result runs against the rankings

The result also cut against the power rankings. Shopify Rebellion Gold arrived as the 10th-ranked team, with a rating of 1782. KRÜ Blaze sat 20th on 1742. Still, KRÜ Blaze’s 63-21 record across 84 rated matches was the stronger of the two, and the lower bracket run turned that record into a route to the final.

KRÜ Blaze’s lower bracket recovery

Saturday’s victory was KRÜ Blaze’s third successive series win in the lower bracket. Their first two lower bracket wins had been sweeps: 2-0 against Team Liquid Brazil in the quarter-finals and 2-0 against MIBR GC in the semi-finals.

That run meant KRÜ Blaze had won seven of the eight maps played since dropping out of the upper bracket. After the 37-minute and 50-minute maps against Shopify Rebellion Gold, the fourth map’s 70-minute length showed the level of pressure they survived to reach the championship match.

Shopify Rebellion Gold’s exit

For Shopify Rebellion Gold, the loss followed an earlier setback in the upper bracket final. Gentle Mates GC beat them 2-1 to claim the direct place in the final, with the related match report noting that Gentle Mates GC came from a map down. Saturday’s defeat meant the North American side finished the event on two consecutive series defeats, after looking well placed earlier in the week.

The final stage: Sunday 1 November

KRÜ Blaze now face Gentle Mates GC on Sunday 1 November, the closing day of the championship. Gentle Mates GC reached the final unbeaten in the playoffs. They swept MIBR GC 2-0 in the upper bracket semi-finals before beating Shopify Rebellion Gold 2-1.

The final will determine the title after a lower bracket recovery from KRÜ Blaze and an upper bracket path from Gentle Mates GC. The original match report appeared first on Esports Insider.
